She was followed by <strong>Frisky Den Lu <\/strong>(dob 1988), and after some time, a third-and fourth-Labrador<strong>, West Freda Ambra <\/strong>(dob 1991)\u00a0and <strong>Juksi Grigos Ret <\/strong>(dob 1991). All four of them were females.<\/p>\n<p>Estonia&#8217;s first Labrador Retriever kennel\u00a0is <strong>Juht<\/strong> (founded 1995), which is still active.\u00a0They breed\u00a0dogs for guide and assistance purpose.<\/p>\n<p>Most dogs born in Estonia went for pets, others were employed by Estonian custom\u00a0or police, others were\u00a0successfully exhibited\u00a0in the show ring or used as a working purpose.<\/p>\n<h3>The very first Labrador<\/h3>\n<p>The first Labrador <strong>BRUTAN ANGELA<\/strong> was brought\u00a0to Estonia (Kadrina) by K. Raik\u00a0in 1982 from Latvia. At this time Rakvere&#8217;s Dog Breeders Club members were importing many new breeds but\u00a0at first glance\u00a0the new breed called &#8220;Labrador Retriever&#8221; was far from typical pedigree dog.\u00a0We were used to see something more extravagant than this new simple dog &#8211; Labrador was so ordinary in appearance.<\/p>\n<p>Brutan Angela had many famous dogs in her pedigree, one of them very important &#8211;\u00a0<strong>Red Star<\/strong> who was\u00a0the first Labrador Retriever in Soviet Union (1970). Red Star\u00a0was brought by English or Canadian politics as a gift to N. Kos\u00f5gin.<\/p>\n<p>Brutan Angela increased Estonian Labrador population by four litters. For matings they had to travel to Riga or Moscow. Most of\u00a0the puppies scattered around of Estonia leaving no mark in history, but his daughter <strong>Antera ZAN<\/strong>G (dob 1985) and chocolate-colored son <strong>ARI<\/strong> (dob 1991, owner L. Soosaar) laid the foundation for Estonian Labrador breeding.<\/p>\n<h3>First EST V CH, Ari<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Ari<\/strong> is a\u00a0legendary\u00a0dog in Estonian Labrador history. He\u00a0became the first breed show champion (EST V CH) and <em>Estonian Winner 1995<\/em> and was also the first Estonian Labrador who was exhibited in the World Winner show. Ari&#8217; descedants inherited a decent apperance, great will to work, and in some cases, tough attitude to rivals (mainly to other males).<\/p>\n<p>Second imported\u00a0Labrador was <strong>FRISKY DEN LU<\/strong> (owner J. Kurgina). Her daughter <strong>ALISA NELL<\/strong> (dob1991, owner A. Lukas) became the first mate for Ari. From their combination developed so-called &#8220;<em>narvakad<\/em>&#8221; (<em>edit:<\/em> Narva is a town in Estonia) who\u00a0were particularly sensitive and savvy, but some\u00a0were overly suspicious. These dogs\u00a0were black <strong>Aneta<\/strong> (dob 1993, owner A. Vibur), black <strong>BETSI<\/strong> (owner U. M\u00e4gi), and yellow-colored\u00a0<strong>CARLOS<\/strong> (owner Susi). Many today dogs have these names in their pedigree. Their brothers, sisters (though not in the same litter) Boli and\u00a0Alviina became great guide dogs for the blind and did not have time to worry about the puppies.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2841\" style=\"width: 173px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2841\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2841\" title=\"Juht Aleena\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/ajaluguAleena.jpg\" alt=\"Juht Aleena\" width=\"163\" height=\"136\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-2841\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Juht Aleena<\/p><\/div>\n<p>From the second Juht-litter (dob 1996) came productive<strong> Juht ALEENA<\/strong> (owner M. Lauringson, kennel Forest Fan) and\u00a0bomb-sniffing dog <strong>Juht ALBAN<\/strong> (owner M. Vilde). Juht Alban gained the title EST V CH, secondly after Ari.<\/p>\n<p>Juht Alban&#8217;s mate, Latvian import, <strong>Churchill<\/strong> (owner O. J\u00f5giselg) has in her third generation\u00a0<strong>Sweettrees Mac <\/strong>(dob 1988, imp. Belgium, owner T. Sulce). In addition, the direct descedants of Sweettrees Mac are\u00a0the third and fourth Labrador in Estonia (Tartu), purchased for guiding dogs, yellow-colored Freda West Ambra and JUKSI Grigos Ret. \u00a0Juksi was Ari&#8217;s second mate.<\/p>\n<h3>New discover &#8211; custom service dogs<\/h3>\n<p>If <strong>Antera Zang<\/strong>&#8216;s and <strong>Sweettrees Mac<\/strong>&#8216;s daughter <strong>ANTASSI<\/strong> (dob 1992), owner of M. Metsamart, discovered Finnish import custom dog <strong>Hirsipirtin IKIOMA<\/strong> (dob 1993, owner N. Stankevit\u0161, kennel Reval Dream), the breeding took a new direction.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2842\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2842\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-2842 \" title=\"Hirsipirtin Ikioma\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/ajaluguIkioma-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Hirsipirtin Ikioma\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.retriiverid.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/ajaluguIkioma-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.retriiverid.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/ajaluguIkioma-200x198.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-2842\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Hirsipirtin Ikioma<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Hirsipirtin Ikioma&#8217;s first litter was with Antassi, resulting <strong>ANGEL<\/strong> (dob 1994, owner Bucht L.), ANDRO (owner Metsamart) and professional drug dog as their Papa,<strong> ANGER<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Anger and <strong>Alisa Nell<\/strong> were mated, resulting\u00a0<strong>D\u017eim<\/strong> (owner N. Stankevitsh, kennel Reval Dream) who was the first Retriever to pass <em>Forest Duck<\/em> test, and guide dog Dora.<\/p>\n<p>Angers&#8217; sister Angel was mated with custom dog <strong>LENNU<\/strong> (imp. Finland, dob 1994), resulting in productive Donna (dob 1997, owner H. Jaanuska, kennel Paunvere) and Bellami (owner M. Unt).<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2843\" style=\"width: 220px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2843\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2843 \" title=\"Lennu\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/ajaluguLennu-300x211.jpg\" alt=\"Lennu\" width=\"210\" height=\"148\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.retriiverid.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/ajaluguLennu-300x211.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.retriiverid.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/ajaluguLennu.jpg 528w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 210px) 100vw, 210px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-2843\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Lennu<\/p><\/div>\n<p>With Lennu&#8217;s brother, retired custom dog LATE, had puppies Betsi\u00a0(dam: Alissa Nell + sire: Ari), from this litter grew a calm guide dog Karmen.<\/p>\n<p>Lennu and Hirsipirtin Ikioma were used for stud many times with different combinations, but Late, beacuse of his overweight, was in trouble with this work.<\/p>\n<p>Hirsipirtin Ikioma&#8217;s second mate was\u00a0Freda West Ambra. It was a happy choice: the litter born in 1995. will go down in history for its famous members.\u00a0Estonia&#8217;s first bomb-sniffing dog <strong>Sammi<\/strong> (owner H. Vilde), a dog in commercials, <strong>Peppi<\/strong>, narcotic-searching dog Tommi,\u00a0actor in theatre\u00a0Vanemuine show &#8220;Undiin&#8221; \u00a0with <strong>MERRI<\/strong> (owner V., and M. Malm, kennel Juht) and\u00a0<strong>LEEVI<\/strong>, owned by\u00a0artist M. Undusk.<\/p>\n<p>Besides the fact that they were well-known artists, they had also nice exterior.\u00a0These last two dogs have given beautiful brood: Merri&#8217;s three children continued in breeding, Leevi + Ari (Lordpruunu, Lexterlorrimer, Leonardo, Luise etc.)<\/p>\n<p>Second litter (born 1996) of Freda West Ambra (sire: Ari&#8217;s son Carlos) was more modest in every sense.\u00a0This connections both sides ran into Ari&#8217;s father<strong> Zepp Tumark Parry<\/strong> (dob 1986). From this inbreeding Juht Bianka (owner K. Pugi), Juht Brita (owner A. Lepik) and Juht Bona (owner Guide-and Assistance dog school) were born.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Juht Brita<\/strong> had puppies with Lennu, and Lennu with Juht Bianka. If the first three custom service dogs were smart and good-looking, then the fourth was just smart.<\/p>\n<p>To carry forward the breeding it was desperately needed to find new solutions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Aneta<\/strong>&#8216;s\u00a0(dam: Alissa Nell + sire: Ari)\u00a0owners made\u00a0for that time a\u00a0bold decision, and traveled for mating to Finland. Loresho Love Mission were chosen to be the mate. From this\u00a0litter\u00a0came brown-colored\u00a0<strong>IDA<\/strong> (dob. 1997, owner A. Lokke) and guide dog Aramis.<\/p>\n<p>Also with guide dog <strong>Ritta<\/strong> (Juksi + Ari) were went to Finland to Finnish Guide Dog School, where Ritta was mated with their stud Halolan Zalamansanter.\u00a0Their son <strong>Juht Cupido<\/strong> has been savior for three females, and results were surprisingly good &#8211; \u00a0progeny from three litters: Juht Dekkan, EST CH &amp; EST JW&#8217;02 Paunvere Duffy and Kalevi Berenike, who have all been successful in exhibitions and proven their good health.<\/p>\n<h3>Applehill&#8217;s Mikado<\/h3>\n<p>In 1995 black-colored\u00a0<strong>APPLEHILL&#8217;S MIKADO<\/strong> (dob 1994)\u00a0was imported from Finland. For this time many Estonian Labradors were closely related to each other, and so Mikado was waited in anticipation to bring some freshness. He got soon three CAC&#8217;s from three different judges and was entitled as EST V CH. Mikado left his qualityes to many litters, eaven from matings with moderate females quality was born.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2845\" style=\"width: 210px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2845\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2845 \" title=\"Dolly\" src=\"http:\/\/www.retriiverid.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/ajaluguDolly.jpg\" alt=\"Dolly\" width=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.retriiverid.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/ajaluguDolly.jpg 493w, https:\/\/www.retriiverid.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/ajaluguDolly-300x237.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 493px) 100vw, 493px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-2845\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dolly<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The most famous descedants of Mikado are the first Baltic states\u00a0champion <strong>Wizard&#8217;s Creek Marski<\/strong> (dam Minna) and her sister, Estonian Champion <strong>Matilda<\/strong> (owners T., and R. Raun, kennel Wizard&#8217;s Creek), and the first Estonian Labrador with title of International Champion <strong>DOLLY<\/strong> (dob 1998, dam Arabella, owner. H. &#8211; M. Zahharov, kennel My Brand).\u00a0All Dollys&#8217; littermates could been Champions, but their owners satisfied with less.<\/p>\n<p>Mikado had many beautiful and talented descendants, all of them here is impossible to count. \u00a0He\u00a0was mated 9 times during the year (Ari only 6 times during his hole life), and so, after some years, all Estonian Labradors were related again.<\/p>\n<h3>Savior from Lithuania<\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_2846\" style=\"width: 220px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2846\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2846 \" title=\"Ann-Elisabeth's Ella\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/ajaluguElla-300x224.jpg\" alt=\"Ann-Elisabeth's Ella\" width=\"210\" height=\"157\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.retriiverid.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/ajaluguElla-300x224.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.retriiverid.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/ajaluguElla.jpg 470w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 210px) 100vw, 210px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-2846\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ann-Elisabeth&#39;s Ella<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Next savior was Lithuanian import yellow-colored <strong>BAIRONAS GAIVENE<\/strong> (dob 1998, owner A. Kiris).\u00a0He did not left himself so powerfully, but rather gave an opportunity to female dogs.<\/p>\n<p>Bairons&#8217; children did not harvest exhibitions, but some of them were very active in working field &#8211;\u00a0<strong>Sulli<\/strong> (dob 2000, dam Mimibel, owner H. Lippus), Estonian Obedience Champion <strong>Rozabella<\/strong> (dob 2000, dam Juht Brita, owner K. Puskai) and first Labrador who passed Retriever&#8217;s official working test\u00a0<strong>Forest Fan Beretta<\/strong> (dob 1999, dam Juht Aleena, owner Evelin Heinlo).\u00a0Bairon was also chosen to be the first mate for Finnish import black-colored female\u00a0<strong>ANN-ELISABETH&#8217;S ELLA <\/strong>(1997-2007, owner T. Tiitus, kennel Black Floyd).<\/p>\n<p>And when all the &#8220;brides&#8221; were paired with the new male, it was again a closed circle.<\/p>\n<h3>For closure<\/h3>\n<p>To escape from this situation Estonian Retrievers Society&#8217;s breeding committee has done great work in recent years when contacting best overseas breeders in breeding matters.\u00a0Natalja Stankevit\u0161-Melnikova keeps her line linked with main Labrador breeders in Russia.<\/p>\n<p>Hopefully this shows the ending for &#8220;all-everyone&#8221; breeding tactics, and we have reached a new and meaningful breeding of Labrador Retrievers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Author: Anu Lokke, a trainer of guide dogs, kennel Pisuh\u00e4nd and Juht.
